Diagnoses are diverse and range from stress and anxiety to spina bifida and cerebral palsy. People with special physical, cognitive, social, and psychological needs, youth-at-risk, seniors and veterans are all part of the TRI family. Our students may be in a wheelchair, they may not be able to speak or hear, or their disability may be invisible to the eye. Regardless of what the diagnoses, all TRI students are a part of this program because they are seeking a challenging experience that encourages them to reach new heights. In TRI’s therapeutic riding program, students participate in a class once a week for a 10-week session. Goals are set after initial evaluation and tracked and monitored throughout and compiled for a final evaluation at the conclusion of the session. Most of our students demonstrate a 90% improvement toward their goals. These goals may include increased core strength, balance, or even verbalizing commands or asking politely for help. All goals are specific to the student and lesson plans are built to help that student make progress toward these goals.
