SOCIAL CAUSE: DISASTER RELIEF
What is Disaster Relief?
New World Encyclopedia defines Disaster Relief as, “the process of responding to a catastrophic situation, providing humanitarian aid to persons and communities who have suffered from some form of disaster. It involves dealing with and avoiding risks and preparing, supporting, and rebuilding society when natural or human-made disasters occur.”
Nonprofits may identify themselves under this category if they support communities that have experienced some type of natural disaster (tornado, severe storms, hurricane). Their support may include local, national or international levels of support.
