Roberts is a magnet school within the Cincinnati Public School District serving a diverse population of students and families. We are a community learning center, focused on providing a great education to all students and welcoming diverse learners of all ages and backgrounds. We are blessed to be a member of the Price Hill community, embracing the rapidly changing diverse population. Monies awarded to Community Learning Center Institute would directly benefit the students at Roberts Academy. We have a high number of students who qualify for free/reduced lunch, thus our poverty rate hovers around 97%, of those about 28% of the student population is an English Language Learner, whereby English is not their first language. A great number of our students have not ever experienced a school setting or have had a pre-school experience. We have focused efforts for those children entering Kindergarten to have a summer school experience to help prepare them for the beginning of the educational career. A Summer Bridge Program for all incoming Kindergarten students is underway and will provide an extremely important learning atmosphere not only for the students, but the parents as well. There will be volunteer opportunities for high school students to take part in the programming for the Summer Bridge Program. |
